Well, it looks like if all would have gone according to the original plan, my very first half-marathon experience would have been no fun at all. That race was held yesterday morning, September 14. The start time roughly coincided with the arrival of what was once Hurricane Ike. Five inches of rain fell on St. Charles, and the directors decided to cut both the marathon and half-marathon short at about 10 miles due to flash flooding on the course. Apparently the water was knee-deep in places. You can read more about the race here.
My foot, by the way, is feeling much better. After I get a new pair of shoes, my new plan is to ease back into running, and then try for the Go! St. Louis Half Marathon next April in downtown St. Louis. Anyone interested in joining me?
I'll be back posting about the kiddos soon, I promise!
